Cellblock Alpha

Cellblock-Alpha, formerly called “Lockdown”, is a game of exploring dark themes and experiencing visceral emotions, about enduring the oppression of a totalitarian regime, and finding hope in small acts of defiance and survival.
Intended to be a light-in-the-darkness style larp, players will take on the roles of prisoners of the regime and live their day-to-day struggles, taking place in a simulated prison. For some, Cellblock-Alpha will be a game of politics in hell, making cutthroat deals to sustain their power; for others it will be a game of fighting vainly against oppression, or being crushed by it; and for still others it will be a game of finding small solace and comfort between the hard walls.
Taking place over several acts of increasing tension, the game will culminate in a prison riot where the prisoners will take control. In these crucial hours, tensions will boil over, conflicts will be resolved, and all will do their best to survive how they can. Whilst the will of the regime will not be overcome, it can be resisted, and any act of defiance can be a spark of hope in the darkness. The game will conclude as the regime arrives to retake the prison, the rioters must accept that their revolt will be quick and fleeting, and hope they made the best of it. But perhaps any resistance, even a fleeting one, is worthwhile.
